Why ShearGenius Exists
Matt Grumley isn’t a businessman who decided to sell scissors. He’s a hairdresser who has cut more than 40,000 heads of hair, sharpened over 100,000 pairs of scissors, and spent three and a half decades learning exactly what a professional tool needs to do.
“I got tired of seeing professionals spending serious money on scissors that let them down. I knew what the steel should feel like, what the geometry should do, how the handle should sit. So I stopped looking for someone else to make them and started designing them myself.”
He founded ShearGenius in 2007 with one objective: give professional hairdressers and barbers access to scissors built to the same standard as the best tools available anywhere in the world — without the retail markups, the middlemen, or the compromise.
